Loss $ 138,954.58

It will be observed that the above amount to- gether with the sum of 74.821.84 as stated on page 17 of my letter to you of the 30th January last, represents a loss of Public funds totalling $ 213.776.42 owing to the procedure and methods of Mr. Chatham in carrying out two works alone, and for these methods I was not in any

way responsible.

23.

There is usually a natural ending to such methods

as before cited.

At the time when I commenced to prepare the final

accounts for the work, I stated that such accounts, owing

to research work dating back many years for a building of

magnitude, would take about six (6) months to prepare, it

being a comparatively easy matter to deal with accounts

during progress of a work, but a totally different matter

to deal with accounts many years after the work has been

done.
